Since its founding, Marin has built its strong reputation upon a number of technological advancements including:

* Lightweight Hardtail Mountain Bikes, utilizing state of the art titanium, carbon, aluminum and steel materials combined with cutting edge frame technology.
* Quad-Link Full Suspension Mountain Bikes, a proprietary technology providing the most effective and reactive suspension system available today. Recipient of multiple US and International Bike of the Year awards.
* Performance Oriented Flat Bar Road Bikes meld the comfortable style of a mountain bike with the light weight aerodynamics of a road bike.
* City and Urban Bikes, clearly leading the industry and setting the standards for performance and design

It's all about the frame
What the foundation is to a house, the frame is to a bicycle - everything else is a component and replaceable. Marins ultimate goal in designing a frame is to choose the materials, tube diameters, and painstakingly refine geometries to make the bike an extension of the rider. Not only do their frame geometries differ for each size of a given model, every single tube is custom drawn and butted to assure maximum stiffness and ride efficiency at the lowest reasonable weight.

They utilize the most advanced computer-aided design software available, including Autodesk Inventor®, to arrive at the most efficient use of material before heading out to the trails and roads for the testing that counts the most: the kind their customers do.

Marin athletes such as Dirt Jump and Slopestyle champion, Andrew Taylor, are key members of the product development team contributing crucial feedback that they use to optimize the marriage of materials and geometry into the strongest, yet lightest bikes, on the market. They employ the most refined construction techniques available such as hydroformed tube shaping, 3D forging and robotically controlled welding in order to meet and exceed their high manufacturing standards.

They then put their finished frames and bikes through exacting safety and durability testing regimes that exceed rigorous statutory standards.

Hydroforming

Hydroforming permits the construction of complicated 3-D engineered shapes which allows Marin to build incredibly durable and lightweight frames. By changing the external dimensions of a tube and adding strategicall located facets or curves, they can alter how a frame behaves under a rider's load. Increasing the diameter of a tube near a welded junction increases its strength by spreading the load over a larger area. Much the same way as the diameter of a tree becomes greater at its base, their product engineers have taken a lesson from nature and applied it to their shaped tubesets. Which allows them to build incredibly durable and lightweight frames.

Custom Butting

Each tube found in the construction of a Marin frame begins life simple, round and plain but then the magic begins. Butting is the process by which a round tube has material removed in order to make it lighter without sacrificing strength. By customizing this process for every size of every bike in the Marin line, they're able to better tune each bike's ride characteristic for every rider. Whereas many brands spec tubesets for the tallest riders and cut them in production for smaller sized frames Marin take a near-custom approach to every frame they build.
