This is the first of what will become a series of regular bike maintenance workshops run at Pedals Cycle Centre. The workshop will be led by our two Cytech qualified techs, Roger and Mike who bring with them a vast experience in bike maintenance.
Roger joined Pedals Cycle Centre as a mechanic straight after school in 1983. He briefly left Pedals in 1988 for a different career before rejoining us in 1993 where he has remained ever since. As well as Roger's many years of bike maintenance experience, Roger has multiple qualifications including Cytech qualifications, Brompton Accredited Technician qualifications, Shimano Di2 certifications, Bosch eBike certifications, Shimano Steps certifications and he is trained in Rockshox servicing by SRAM.
Mike has been building his own bikes since he was a teenager and has spent his whole career in the bike industry having been at Pedals Cycle Centre since 2010. Mike is Cytech qualified, trained in Rockshox fork servicing and trained on Shimano Di2.
Both Roger and Mike are really looking forward to sharing their experiences with you in our first workshop which will cover Bike Cleaning and Emergency repairs.
There is more to a clean bike than appearance. A clean bike works better and lasts longer, saving you money and giving you a more enjoyable ride with fewer squeaks and creaks. You’ll learn the cleaning process and understand specifics about cleaning the suspension, drivetrain and frame.
Getting stuck and having to endure a long push back can be a frustrating experience. Yet with a few simple techniques many basic problems can be resolved there and then. You’ll learn emergency repairs to get you moving again, including replacing a tube, fixing a chain and minor gear and brake adjustments.
These will be run as two parallel sessions with Mike taking a group to cover Bike Cleaning and Roger taking a group to cover Emergency Repairs.
The groups will be kept small (no more than 3 in each group) to ensure you get enough time and are able to take away some good information. Half way through the evening we will swap the groups around but only after a little break with some free refreshments provided.
So come and join us for what promises to be an enjoyable, informative, sociable and personal session!
